If you have HDF4 library installed and have sample ARPS data, command "hdp dumpsds" can help you find the structure of ARPS HDF data. Samples are also available anonymously from ftp.caps.ou.edu/pub/users/ywang/.

ARPS uses height coordinates. EXT2ARPS can interpolate external data from pressure levels to ARPS internal coordinates. There are several supported data set including ETA grid #212, AVN grid #3, ETA grid #218 etc. If your external data is not supported inside EXT2ARPS, you can build a new subroutines specifically for it based on those subroutines inside file src/ext2arps/getextd3d.f90. Please note that the include file include/gribcst.inc should also be changed.
